If you happen to be among the 33% of people around the world that are suffering from the Red Ring of Death (RROD) then this article is going to outline for you how to fix an Xbox 360 properly. The method outlined in this article has been helping people for over 2 years and is my most recommended solution for anyone who needs a guaranteed fix. I would like to point out before I begin that this method is a self-fix-it method that will, when used void your warranty. For some people this is a concern, but I would like to put that to rest because I honestly do not believe the warranty to be worth much at all. The reason for this being that the manufacturer has not officially repaired the RROD, and many who have resorted to the manufacturer have received their systems back and got the RROD again. But in the end, the choice is up to you whether you want to play games, and go back and forth with the manufacturer, or permanently repair your system now with no hassle.
I would like to point out that the reason this repair works, and has been so successful is because it gets to the Root of the RROD. The primary cause of the RROD is related to severe overheating issues inside your Xbox 360. The logical solution is to get to the root of the overheating, minimize it's effect and your system and secure your system in a way that makes it less vulnerable to overheating. Once this is done, you will not only prevent the RROD from happening again, but you will prevent other errors as well. Errors such as 2 and 4 red light errors, Graphic Glitches, Game Freezes and the E74 error code. In order to fix an Xbox 360 properly, I highly recommend you use one of the popular Xbox 360 repair guides that will walk you through the entire repair process but for the sake of this article I will sum up exactly what you will be have to do to fix an Xbox 360 from the RROD.

How to Fix An Xbox 360 From the RROD
In order to repair your system you will first need to acquire all of the necessary and required parts. Do not leave any part out and make sure that you have everything according to specification this is vital. The parts you will need are as follows:
Hardware:
1. 8 Machine Screws 5X10mm (5mm)
2. 16 Nylon Washers #10 (5mm)
3. 16 Steel-Flat Washers - Zinc Plated (5mm)
Tools:
1. 1 T8 Torx Screwdriver
2. 1 T-10 Torx Screwdriver
3. 1 Knife or other sturdy flat object
4. 1 Paper-Clip
5. 1 Flat-head Screwdriver
6. 1 Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
7. 1 Artic Silver 5 Cleaning Kit
8. Pliers
Once you have gathered all of these parts you will need to disassemble your Xbox 360. This isn't a difficult process as long as you are careful with how you handle your system. Once your entire console has been disassembled the next step is to replace the thermal compound on the GPU and CPU with a more reliable solution. This is primarily how we will stop these two chips from overheating in the future and causing us to get the RROD again. After this step there is only one more fix to be made and your system will be repaired.
The next step is to make a small modification to the motherboards heatsinks. The X-Clamp will no longer be needed after this repair, as the modification will ensure a more sturdy and stable foundation for the motherboard to rest on. Prior to this modification, whenever the Xbox would get hot, the motherboard would start to bend due to the extreme heat which eventually would erode the soldering joints insde the 360 then after that all hell would break loose. With this modification your motherboard will no longer be susceptible to bending from extreme heat and will respond and act normally from that point on. Once this modification has been made the last thing to do is to re-asseble your console and play your Xbox 360.
As you can see this is a very simple way to fix an Xbox 360. But don't let it's simplicity fool you; it is very effective and like I said has been helping people for over 2 years repair their system. People are just starting to realize the effectiveness and authenticity of this repair once they apply it themselves. Now as I can't fully elaborate here on how to make these repairs I would highly suggest that you resort to one of the expert Xbox 360 repair guides, which is where I learned about this repair. These guides are cost efficient, and will show you how to make this repair in only 1 hour. Taking you step-by-step through the repair process with video guided tutorial this is going to be your best bet at resolving the RROD crisis for good!
