If you have 3 flashing red lights on your Xbox 360 then it means that you have a hardware error, this happens when the GPU and the CPU become too hot and the motherboard starts to bend, eventually the soldering becomes loose and you're left with the flashing lights.
So is there anything you can do before you send it back to Microsoft?

Well there are few things that you can try to save your console, the first thing to do is unplugged everything and make sure that when you reconnect everything it is firmly attached and also do not use an extension plug but make sure that you plug it directly into the wall.
Sometimes the lack of power that the console receives can cause you to get the 3 flashing lights.
The second thing that you can try is to remove the hard drive and then reattach it, as is too can cause a problem sometimes and you may find it works.
The third thing you can do to try and fix it is to get the power brick and keep it up off the floor and if you do this it will be allow to breathe on all sides and you may find this helps you console as the power brick can get quite hot and sometimes can be the cause of the problem.
If all the above fails then you will need to give Microsoft a ring and they will arrange to come and pick up your Xbox, the only bad thing with this is the fact that it can take about 3 or 4 weeks to get your console back to you and working again.
If you do not wish to wait that long then you can fix it yourself as long as you get yourself a good video guide that will show you EXACTLY the steps to take to get your 360 back and working.
Make sure that it offers a full refund then if you cannot fix it then at least you can send it off anyway and get it fixed without any problems!
