The 3 red rings error means that you have a general hardware failure on your Xbox and it is causes by the components in the Xbox 360 overheating. The 2 main chips that do all the work are called the CPU and the GPU and as these heat up through normal usage, they also cool down quickly when the Xbox is turned off.
